The unknown sky above me was glowing with golden, amber light as the two suns set. The Doctor had finally given to my constant asking of finding a place just to relax at. Someplace without any trouble, time disturbances, monsters, Daleks or the like. Just a nice calm place.

I could tell he was hating every moment of it.

From where I was laying, a scant few feet from the TARDIS; I could hear the Doctors foot tapping against the door. He hated it when he gave me something that I wanted without making me suffer for it. I just happen to win this one argument and he had to honor his word. So here I lay, trying to sort my thoughts out on this alien ground while I listened to the annoyed Time Lord tap tap tap away his patiance.

I thought back on the time we've spent together; fighting evil, saving life as we know it. Him always bossing me around, telling me how awkward and strange I am. Now that I think about it, the Doctor and I act more like a brother and sister at times. Kinda weird, considering he's supposed to be some alien adventurer dude and I a small town country girl.

I tilt my head back slightly, seeing the Doctor from an upside down angle, fiddling with his watch, like he was in some big hurry to leave.  Sighing, I looed up at the sky one last time, taking it in before leaving forever.

"Alright, alright you big cry baby. We can go. Stop your huffing." He gave me his usual 'I out to smack you up for making me wait so long' face and let me pass him into the TARDIS.

"Well, are you satisfied that I waisted ten minutes of my precious time on your little vacation?" his pissy voice made me want to kick him in his junk for the hundrenth time.

"It was only a few minutes. Its not like we missed anything extreme in that time." I didnt have to turn around on my way to my roon to see his eyes grow wide with outrage.

"It is that kind of simple minded idiocy that keeps your race in the postion it is in!"

"Ohhh! Good burn, Doc. 'Cept that I dont care!" I scream back at him. Like I didnt know my own species was moronic.

I fummed all the way back to my room, throwing myself onto my bed and immediatly popping my iPod into my ears. Why was he like that? I've saved his ass more times thatn I could count, and he still treats me like I'm a nusance. I turned over onto me side and fought back the hot, salty tears that were forming. Times like this, I feel I was better off in my dead end life than being mentally abused by some alien fruit tart.

I must have been mopping longer than I thought, because the harsh rumble of my stomach indicated that I was very hungry. Exiting my room, I made my way to the kitchen. To my grivance, the Doctor was at the table; sipping some tea. Ignoring him, I went to the fridge to retirve that leftover kronkburger I hadnt eaten. Grabbing a fresh Mountain Dew and taking a hearty drink, I almost spat it out when a voice sounded from the awkward silence.

"Geneva." said the Doctor from behind me.

"Pardon?" I asked with a raised eyebrow,

"I was thinking we could go to a more appropriate place for some down time. I was thinking Lake Geneva, say; 1816?"

My mind pondered that for a moment. Lake Geneva, 1816. Why did that sound so familiar? I actually did spit out my drink when it finally came to me.

"Are you serious?!" I said through coughs and sputters. The Doctor had that smirk on his face again.

"I cant promise you many outdoor activites, but that shouldnt be to much a problem with you. Considering the company we'll be in." He winked at me, then got up to go to the control room.

Before he was out the door, I ran and threw my arms around him and kissed his cheek. He rolled his eyes and put his arm around me once I let go.

Sometimes he was a royal pain in my ass. And sometimes he was the best friend I've ever had.

Double-edged sword you are, Doctor...
